  • Neurotoxins, also known as Botox, Dysport, and Xeomin are injectable solutions that temporarily block nerve receptors in the muscle.

  • Each brand has a slightly different formulation of bacterium: Clostridium Botulinum or Botulinum Toxin A. They all work in the same way, by blocking the nerve impulses of the injected muscles to temporarily paralyze muscle movements.

  • While the active ingredient in each product is botulinum toxin type A, some also feature protein blends that may affect the diffusion and efficacy of the injection. All of our neurotoxins have similar safety and efficacy profiles, but since subtle differences do exist that may make one a better option for your particular needs.

    While this treatment is suitable for most adults, there are several contraindications you should be aware of. You may be considered a poor candidate for neurotoxins if you if you have the following:

    • A history of severe allergic reactions, specifically an adverse reaction to neurotoxins in the past

    • Prone to keloid scarring

    • Are pregnant or nursing

    • If you suffer from certain nerve or muscle conditions

    • If you have problems swallowing or breathing

    • Let us know if you have a history of cold sores

  • The average patient needs/gets 50 units. Your injector will consider your concerns and budget when deciding on how many units is appropriate for you.

  • Neurotoxin needles are so small that most people report feeling a slight pinch or stinging sensation.

    If you are a patient who does not like needles you may feel uneasiness or uncomfortable while receiving injections.

  • Injection usually takes only a few moments per site. Your treatment may take between 10-15 minutes to complete.

  • Most people start to see results in 3-5 days. You'll see final results 10-14 days after treatment, but the timeline varies depending on individual factors.

  • The longevity of your neurotoxin results varies on several factors.

    However, we feel fairly confident that your desired results for at least three months. Sometimes, the results of the first treatment only last for a couple of months. With subsequent treatments, you can expect your results for longer. After several consistent treatments, you may even be able to enjoy the results of neurotoxin for up to six months.

    • Do not drink alcohol for 24 hours prior to your treatment

    • Avoid other skin treatments and waxing

    • Stay out of the sun

    • Stop taking NSAIDs, fish oil supplements, and other blood thinners

    • Oral muscle relaxants must be avoided

  • Luckily, there is no downtime. The most common side effects of neurotoxin procedures are redness, discomfort, swelling and bruising on the injection site. These are normal body reactions after any injectable treatment and will go away in a few days.
